Holiday Program

Arrival day: Welcome to Lapland! You will be greeted at the Kittilä Airport with Riekko Lodge's sign and transferred to the lodge. You will receive your program schedule before dinner. You will also receive the winter clothing (or on the next day, depending on your time of arrival).

Days 2 - 7: During your holiday you will participate in the following activities:

Introduction to Ice-Fishing (app. 2,5 hours)
Have you ever fished on the ice? On this tour you will. We'll approach the waterfront on foot, sometimes using snowshoes. Our guide will introduce you to winter fishing, equipment and techniques. On the tour we’ll enjoy fishing and surrounding nature. During the tour we will also drink some warm juice and bite a small snack.

Northern Lights Hunting with Snowmobiles (2,5 - 3 hours)

On this evening snowmobile experience we drive with snowmobiles to locations in the forests where we have a perfect view to the Northern sky. Depending on the spot, we either set up a campfire outdoors or in kota or laavu to provide us with some warmth as well as to create cozy surroundings to chat about Northern Lights and related stories. Northern Lights are not under our command, so on cloudy nights or during low solar activity we focus more on sensing the sleeping forest, listening to the whistling wind and creaking trees – or just the pure silence.

Snowshoe Tour (3 hours)

This guided snowshoe tour takes you into the snowy forests and fabulous sceneries of Lapland. Our guides take you to our favorite places around the Ylläs area. We leave the marked trails behind and head out to make our own paths. On the tour you’ll hear about the local nature and animals as well as about the Lappish lifestyle. This is an enjoyable tour where surrounding nature and calming atmosphere is the thing. Around halfway we’ll have a break with warm juice and a small snack.

E-fatbike tour on the winter trails of the National Park (3 hours)

This guided mountain biking tour takes us through the best winter biking trails of the Pallas-Ylläs National Park. On the tour we’ll enjoy snowy forests and fabulous Lappish sceneries. Around halfway we’ll take a break enjoying snacks and the surrounding nature.

Forest Skiing Tour (3 hours)
The skin-based skis are the most quiet method to get into the snowy nature. The sparkling, glittery snow hardly makes any sound when we glide through the landscape and admire the peaceful atmosphere of the Arctic winter. You don't need to have skied ever before to try this. We share some stories about the local nature but also about the Lappish lifestyle. Around halfway we’ll have a break with warm juice and a small snack.

Day 8: Breakfast and transfer to Kittilä Airport.
