Forage, preserve, and connect in the ancient landscapes of Rokua UNESCO Geopark
Duration
People
Step into the stillness of the northern forest and discover the quiet abundance that grows beneath your feet and above your head.
This mindful journey through the boreal woods invites you to slow down, tune in, and gather both nature’s gifts and your own inner calm.
Guided by local knowledge and seasonal rhythms, you’ll learn how to identify and harvest wild forest treasures—berries, mushrooms, herbs, or spruce sprouts—depending on what nature offers during your visit. Along the way, you’ll hear the Finnish harvesting family traditions and gain a deeper appreciation for the forest’s quiet generosity.
We’ll pause for moments of reflection and gratitude—grounding exercises that help you reconnect with the land and yourself.
In the spirit of age-old Finnish practices, you’ll then learn how to preserve your harvest using traditional techniques. Whether it’s simmering spruce sprout syrup (kuusenkerkkäsiirappi) or preparing dandelion root tea, you’ll create something by hand to take home—a personal souvenir of your time in the forest.
This is more than a foraging walk.
It’s a chance to return to nature’s rhythm, honour ancestral wisdom, and carry a little bit of the forest’s soul with you.
Come with open hands and leave with a full heart.
