Your adventure begins with a scenic 15-minute drive from Lyngen North to Rotsund, where snow-covered landscapes, frozen fjords, and dramatic mountain scenery create the perfect introduction to the evening ahead.
Upon arrival in Rotsund, guests are welcomed into the changing facilities where warm thermal suits, boots, gloves, helmets, and all necessary Arctic equipment are provided. After getting dressed for the Arctic conditions, you will meet our experienced local guides for a full safety briefing and introduction to the snowmobiles before heading into the wilderness.
Once the engines start, the adventure begins beneath the Arctic night sky. Riding through silent snow-covered valleys and steep mountain trails, the atmosphere becomes completely different from daytime excursions. Moonlight reflecting on the snow, the crisp Arctic air, and the complete silence of the wilderness create a truly unforgettable experience.
The route climbs deep into the mountains toward a remote camp located beside a frozen lake approximately 700 meters above sea level. The ascent is both exciting and challenging, with steep terrain, powerful snowmobiles, and breathtaking nighttime scenery all around. Along the way, several stops are made to admire the panoramic Arctic views and, with a little luck, witness the magical Northern Lights dancing across the sky.
After approximately 25 minutes of climbing, the group arrives at a cozy mountain hut where a fireplace is prepared. Here, guests can warm up with hot drinks and enjoy a meal while surrounded by the peaceful atmosphere of the Arctic wilderness at night.
For guests seeking even more excitement, there is also the opportunity to drive the snowmobiles together with the guides under close supervision. Due to the powerful high-displacement snowmobiles and demanding Arctic conditions, all driving activities are carefully guided to ensure a safe and unforgettable experience.
After enjoying the mountain camp and the spectacular Arctic night scenery, the adventure continues with the descent back through the snowy mountain trails toward Rotsund.
Throughout the safari, it is sometimes possible to spot Arctic wildlife such as moose and reindeer moving silently through their natural habitat beneath the night sky.
