Väentupa is our Family Room, designed for families and small groups who want to share the experience of staying in a historic house while enjoying a little more space and flexibility.

The name Väentupa refers to the part of a traditional household where members of the household staff and workers once lived and gathered. It reflects the everyday life of the old merchant’s house – not only the merchants and their families, but also the many people whose work kept the household and business running.

Today, Väentupa offers a comfortable and characterful place to stay together. The room combines the atmosphere of the historic house with practical comfort, making it a natural choice for families, friends or guests who simply appreciate having more room around them.

Like all rooms at Lang Resort, Väentupa is individually designed. The interior has been created to respect the character of the old house, with carefully chosen furniture, period-inspired details and a warm, homely atmosphere. Rather than feeling like a conventional hotel family room, it feels like a room that belongs to the house and its story.

Staying at Lang is about more than accommodation. The old merchant’s house has witnessed generations of daily life, trade, travel and hospitality. Merchants, seafarers, family members, workers and visitors have all been part of its story, and those layers of history can still be felt throughout the house.

Step outside and you are in the heart of Old Raahe, one of Finland’s best-preserved historic wooden towns, surrounded by old streets, wooden houses and maritime heritage. Everything is close enough to explore at an unhurried pace, making Väentupa a comfortable base for discovering the town together.
