Designed by architect Väinö Vähäkallio, who was the lord of the Kytäjä Estate during its heyday, the lakeside sauna has been exquisitely restored and was reopened in the summer of 2020.

During the restoration process the building was modernised, while retaining an authentic atmosphere as well as some fascinating details that date from the 1930s. A beautiful, original painting by Kaapo Wirtanen depicting an angel can be found on the ceiling of the lounge, and a mermaid-themed bas-relief sculpture by Gunnar Finne adorns the gorgeous brick fireplace. The name of the sauna building is also steeped in history: the ancestral roots of the architect’s wife, Astrid Vähäkallio, can be traced to an estate called Huvitus.

It is hard to imagine a better way to relax after a day of meetings or leisure activities than enjoying the heat of a traditional Finnish sauna complete with a dip in the pristine Kytäjärvi lake. The charming building comprises of a lounge, kitchenette, sauna and shower areas, as well as a private terrace and pier by the lake. The facilities can be hired for up to 12 people, while the sauna comfortably seats 8 people at the same time.
