The chalet’s name originates from Ateljee Autio on Tapolanvuori hill in Lappajärvi. The artist Tapio Autio refers to himself as the Mountain Troll.
For three decades he has created a mystical cultural environment filled with stone paintings, concrete sculptures and stone buildings. Visitors can explore a stone painting church, a sheep altar, an angel room, the Mountain Troll’s castle and a Kalevala-inspired rock painting cave. This is a place that leaves no one untouched.
